This year we are facilitating a Get Outdoors Weekend all across Tasmania. Teaming up with clubs and businesses to promote outdoor activities during mental health week. Keep Saturday 9th October and Sunday 10th October free in 2021!
On Get Outdoors Weekend, you have the opportunity to explore Tasmania and participate in a range of activities, whether its mountain biking, white water rafting, stand up paddle boarding, surfing, bushwalking, yoga, gardening or photography.
Since 2019 over 300 people have participated in outdoor experiences with 3 year olds mountain biking to 90 year olds bushwalking.
There are four key ways that being outdoors can impact positively on our mental health: breathing clean air, being physically active, enjoying other’s company, and reducing our stress levels (see Hartig et al 2014).
